Before you get started, please invest some time to go through the documentation. Whitish Premium Theme can only be used with WordPress and we assume that you already have WordPress installed and ready to go.

Theme Installation

Manage your theme 

To install this theme you must have a working version of WordPress already installed. For information in regard to installing the WordPress platform, please see the WordPress Codex article on installation.

 Installation

 The theme* files can be uploaded in two ways:

  • FTP Upload: Using your FTP program, upload the unzipped theme folder into the /wp-content/themes*/ folder on your server.
  • WordPress Upload: Navigate to Appearance > Add New Themes > Upload. Go to browse, and select the zipped theme folder. Hit “Install Now” and the theme will be uploaded and installed.
  • Once the theme is uploaded, you need to activate it. Go to Appearance> Themes and activate your chosen theme.

*It is very important you upload only the theme files, not the entire package of Whitish. After downloading the Theme Files, please make sure you unpackage/unzip the full download to reveal the compressed directory of just theme files.

Plugin Installation

After Installing and activating the theme you will see the following message at the top of the admin dashboard page. This theme requires few following plugins. Click, begin installing plugins link which will redirect to Install Required Plugins page.

Bulk install required and recommended plugins

 You can install or update the required and recommended plugins at once just by clicking into “Begin Installing Plugins”.

Required plugin 

Jetpack: Whitish requires “Jetpack” plugin to function properly. Post types like testimonial come into action only after the activation of this plugin.

WooCommerce: The next required plugin is “WooCommerce” which is the must if for creating Online Shops.

 

Recommended plugin 

Contact Form 7: Whitish recommends contact form 7 plugin for contact form on your site.

WordPress Configuration

WordPress Configuration

You can adjust WordPress settings as follows:

  1. You can set Site Title in Settings > General.
  2. You can set Blog pages to how at most in Settings > Reading.
  3. You can select Front Page and Posts Page in Settings > Reading.
  4. You can set Discussion settings in Settings > Discussion.
  5. You can change image sizes in Settings > Media.
  6. You should ensure that a non-default permalink setting is selected, e.g. Post name in Settings > Permalinks.

Customization

How to set up front page as shown in the demo?

To make your site’s homepage look like exactly like our demo, you should first create a page, say, “homepage” and go to settings > readings. Choose “A static page” and choose “Homepage” as a front page. If you want to show blog posts then create a page called “blog” and assign it to the blog page.

The demo of the front page can be further divided into following sections. You should navigate to Appearance > Customizer > Theme Options and find the similar settings for the sections listed below.

1. Layout Options

You can choose the structure of blog display on the blog page. Furthermore, post meta fields like post date and author name can also be shown or hidden. The overall layout of the site can be adjusted.

2. Display Frontpage Features    

You can choose three pages which will be featured on the front page. If you don’t want then it can be disabled as well. Block title can also be added.

3. Social Icons

You can add social media links to your site from this section.

4. Slider Settings

Slider setting lets you enable or disable slider in homepage. Is slider is disabled, the header image is displayed instead of a slider. You can also limit the number of slider images to display.

5. Blog Settings

Blog settings let you add block title of the blog section, subtitle, limit the number of posts to be shown and background of the section. This section can also be disabled in homepage.

 6. Testimonial Settings

Likewise, blog section, testimonial settings also lets you add section title, subtitle, the number of testimonial posts to be displayed and change the background color. It can also be hidden or shown on the homepage.

7. Call To Action Settings

Call to action option lets you add a title, description, button text and button URL of the call to action section. The background image can also be added in this section.

8. Footer Options

Footer options let you enable/disable pre-footer, add footer text, developed by text and developed by the link. Above that, it has three options where you can choose to display only footer text or only menu or both text and menu. Background image and color can be added to this section.

Manage site title, logo and site icon

Logo: It changes the main logo of the site.

Site Title: It changes the main site title of the site.

Tagline: It changes the tagline (i.e. Description) of the site.Just below site title.

Site Icon: The Site Icon is used as a browser and app icon for your site. The icon must be square, and at least 512px wide and tall.

Set your site’s title, description and add a logo by navigating to Customizer > Site Identity.

How to add header image for inner pages?

This section allows you to add different header images for other pages.

Navigate to Customize > Header Image.

In Header Image Options you can add a new image in the Header section by clicking Add new image.

Creating posts

Step 1: Navigate to Posts in your WordPress admin sidebar.

Step 2: Click on the Add New option to make a new post. Create a title, and insert your post content in the editing field.

Step 3: Select Post Format from the right side.

Step 4: Add categories from the right side. To assign it to the post, check the box next to the category name.

Step 5: Add tags from the right side. Type the name of the tag in the field, separate multiple tags with commas.

Step 6: you can add featured image. To do so, first click the featured image box, select an image and click the set featured image button.

Menus

There are three predefined theme menu locations in Whitish Premium Theme

  • Main menu
  • Top menu
  • Footer menu.

1. Create menu

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize >Menus.
  2. From Menus, click “Add a Menu” button and you will be able to create a menu.
  3. Now, click Add Items and you will be able to Add or Remove Menu Items according to your requirement.
  4. Select the Menu locations.
  5. Click Save and publish button.

 2. Change menu locations           

  • Go to Appearance > Customize> Menus > Menu Locations
  • Select the menu for Main Menu. Main menu appears as the chief menu in header section.
  • Select the menu for Top Menu. It appears on the top right corner of the theme.
  • Select the menu for Footer Menu. Footer menu appears on the footer section.
  • Click Save and publish

Whitish comes with four custom sidebar widgets for pre-footer area, woocommerce sidebar for woocommerce pages, and main sidebar (default) for other pages

Getting Started

Installing the Theme

To install this theme you must have a working version of WordPress already installed. For information in regard to installing the WordPress platform, please see the WordPress Codex article on installation.

Installation

The theme files can be uploaded in two ways:

Bulk Install Required and Recommended Plugins (recommended)

This theme comes with the ability to bulk install all* required and recommended plugins. Once you have activated the theme you will be prompted to install and activate the required and recommended plugins. Simply click Install “Begin installing plugins” and the process will begin.

Customization

You should configure customizer options in Customize on admin sidebar. Or you can choose customizer option from Appearance Menu in the dashboard.

All the settings like site title, tagline and logo, header image, background image and static front page under WordPress Settings.

A. Theme Options

The next option is “Theme Options” which has following sub-options.

1.  Product Categories:

This option lets you add a title and select any three categories to be displayed in the home template.If more than three categories are selected then also only three categories are displayed among them.

2. Recent Products:

This option lets you add only the title of the section.

3. Featured Products:

This option lets you add a title of the section.

 

4. General Options

This option lets you enable or disable search from the top menu, sticky menu, go to the top section, social icons on top and social icons on the bottom in your site. It also lets you reset all default settings.

5. Layout Options

This option lets you choose blog layout (grid, list or single column), show or hide meta in blog page, design layout (full width, boxed or small boxed)

6. Display Frontpage Features

This option lets you choose three pages which you want to make featured on your site. You can add the title of this section and also enable or disable this section in the homepage.

You can add social media links to your site from this section.

Add CSS in this section to tweak the appearance of the site.

B. Slider Options

Slider options let you configure slider setting in your site. There are further two options slider settings and display page slider.

Display page slider lets you choose four pages whose featured images will be displayed as the slider.

C. Contact Us Page Option

This option lets you add contact information for you or your company on the site.

D. Color Options

Color options allow you to choose a color style, background color, nav, and links color, buttons reset/submit color and WooCommerce.

Menu SetUp

Menu SetUp

The theme has two menus “main menu” and “footer menu”. The former is shown in the top below the logo/site title and the later is shown on the bottom of the site.

To create a menu,

  • Navigate to Appearance > Menu and click on “create menu”.
  • Add pages, categories, posts etc to the menu.
  • Assign the menu to “main menu” or “footer menu”.
  • Click “save menu”.

Installing The Theme via WordPress Dashboard

To Install a Theme via WordPress Dashboard follow these steps:

  1. Go to your WordPress Admin Panel & Log in (Ex: http://yourwebsite.com/wp-admin)
  2. Go to Appearance -> Themes -> Add New
  3. From top, Click on Upload Theme
  4. Choose the ZIP file you’ve downloaded & Click Install Now
  5. Click on Activate to active the theme

We will be using Filezilla

  1. Open Filezilla
  2. Enter the FTP account details provided by your web host in Host, Username & Password field
                          Host: Server hostname (FTP.yourdomain.com)
                          Username: Your Username
                          Password: Your Password
  3. Once connected, you’ll see two panes.
                          Left Pane (Local Site): Shows the files on your computer
                          Right Pane (Remote Site): Shows the files currently on the web server.
  4. Locate your root folder (Ex: public_html)
  5. Extract the theme file; drag & drop the unzipped theme folder to wp-content/themes directory.
  6. If you’re done uploading files, to disconnect just click the disconnect icon
  7. Activate the theme from Appearance -> Themes

CUSTOMIZATION

You should configure customizer options in Customize on admin sidebar. Or you can choose customizer option from Appearance Menu in the dashboard.

1. Site Identity:

You can add the logo, favicon, site title and site tagline from this section.

2. Colors:

  1. Header Color: You can choose your site title and tagline’s color from color picker.
  2. Anchor Text Color: The text with links or anchor tag on the theme will be changed by changing the anchor text color option.
  3. Anchor Text Color Hover (Color Links Hover): The text with links or anchor tag on the theme which is changed by changing the anchor text color option,its color will be changed on hover according to the color added by this option.
  4. Background Color: You can change the background color of the site from this option.

a. Excerpt:

The excerpt section consists of excerpt length and excerpt ending.The excerpt length changes the length of the content of posts in home or archive pages.The excerpt ending changes the ending of the sentence in home or archive pages.

b. Pagination Options:

The pagination options change the pagination structure.There are two choices for pagination,default or numeral.

c. Blog Options:

The Blog Options consists of three options,’Show published Date’,’Show Author’,’Show Comments’.The ‘Show published Date’ option hides/shows the date field in the archive/home page posts.The ‘Show Author’ option hides/shows the author field in archive/home page posts.The ‘Show Comments’ option hide/show the comment field in the archive/home page.

d. Single Post Option:

This section consists of three options,’Full Width’,’With Left Sidebar’ and ‘With Right Sidebar’.the options basically changes the layout of the single post page.If ‘Full width’ is selected then the single post page will not have a sidebar and if ‘With Left Sidebar’ is selected then the page will have a sidebar on the left side of the content. If  ‘With Right Sidebar’ is selected then the sidebar will be placed on the right side of the page.

1. Go to Dashboard > Appearance > Menus on admin sidebar.

Theme Options

The theme option is the section which changes most of the home page features and consists of the following section:

1. Social Options

The ‘twitter’, ‘facebook’, ‘google+’, ‘youtube’, ‘instagram’, ‘pinterest’, ‘tumblr’, ‘linkedin’ has respective text fields where the respective links are to be kept in order to be displayed while clicking on the icons.

2. Slider Options

Slider Options consists of category select option and number of the slider to be displayed option. Only the posts with the selected category are displayed in the slider. The number of sliders determines the number of slides to be displayed. The slider will only be displayed on the front page and Blog page.

3. Mid Section

The Mid Section consists of Block title, Subtitle and Category select field. Only the posts with the selected category are displayed in mid-section.

4. Blog Options

The Blog Options consists of Block title and Subtitle text field. It changes the blog section’s title and subtitles respectively in the Front Page.

5. Footer Section

It consists of a text field which is used in the footer.

There are one predefined theme menu locations in Sungit Lite

  • Primary Menu – Primary Menu appears is the Main Navigation which appears in the header of the site.

Pages

Pages
New pages can be added by clicking pages on admin dashboard and can be assigned to various
templates on the right side.

 

Page Templates
There are various page templates that you can choose.

  1. Default Template ( Default Template with right sidebar )
  2. Home-Template(Front page of the theme ) – Theme’s designed home page
  3. Full-Width Template – (Without sidebar) – Can be used to build an own customized page using Builder plugins.

 

Home Template

  1. The top part of home template consists of the slider, mid-section and blog section.
  2. The slides can be added by selecting the category in customizer’s option.
  3. The mid-section consists of two blocks.
  4. The left block consists of the audio playlist which can be added by selecting audio post format while creating posts and adding an audio file from add media option.
  5. The right block consists of posts which are displayed by selecting the category from mid-section.sungitlite-featuredpostshome
  6. The blog section consists of a maximum of 8 posts which is displayed in slides. All the post except the category selected in mid-section and slider section is displayed in the blog section. The title, featured image and posted date are displayed for each post.sungitlite-latestpostshome

Creating posts
Step 1: Navigate to Posts in your WordPress admin sidebar.
Step 2: Click on the Add New option to make a new post. Create a title, and insert your post content
in the editing field.
Step 3: Select Post Format from the right side.

Step 4: Add categories from the right side. To assign it to the post, check the box next to the category
name.
Step 5: Add tags from the right side. Type the name of the tag in the field, separate multiple tags with
commas.
Step 6: you can add featured image. To do so, first click the featured image box, select an image and
click, the set featured image button.

There are four widget areas in Sungit Lite. You can add widgets in Sidebar which is displayed in
homepage and other pages. In footer region, you can add widgets in three different widget areas.

Getting Started

Installing The Theme

Installing The Theme via WordPress Dashboard

To Install a Theme via WordPress Dashboard follow these steps:

  1. Go to your WordPress Admin Panel & Log in (Ex: http://yourwebsite.com/wp-admin)
  2. Go to Appearance -> Themes -> Add New
  3. From top, Click on Upload Theme
  4. Choose the ZIP file you’ve downloaded & Click Install Now
  5. Click on Activate to active the theme

Installing The Theme via FTP

To install a WordPress Theme via FTP, follow these steps:

We will be using Filezilla

  1. Open Filezilla
  2. Enter the FTP account details provided by your web host in Host, Username & Password field
                          Host: Server hostname (FTP.yourdomain.com)
                          Username: Your Username
                          Password: Your Password
  3. Once connected, you’ll see two panes.
                          Left Pane (Local Site): Shows the files on your computer
                          Right Pane (Remote Site): Shows the files currently on the web server.
  4. Locate your root folder (Ex: public_html)
  5. Extract the theme file; drag & drop the unzipped theme folder to wp-content/themes directory.
  6. If you’re done uploading files, to disconnect just click the disconnect icon
  7. Activate the theme from Appearance -> Themes

Theme Installation

Install theme via WordPress Admin Panel

1. Open WordPress admin panel (navigate through the web browser to the folder where you have installed the WordPress e.g. www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin/ ) and go Appearance > Themes on admin sidebar.
2. Click Add New link and click Upload Theme link.
3. Activate Whitish Lite theme.
4. Set Discussion settings in Settings > Discussion.
5. Change image sizes in Settings > Media.
6. You should ensure that a non-default permalink setting is selected, e.g. Post name in Settings > Permalinks.

Plugin Installation

Bulk Install Required and Recommended Plugins (recommended)

Whitish Lite comes with the ability to bulk install all* required and recommended plugins. Once you have activated the theme you will be prompted to install and activate the required and recommended plugins. Simply click Install “Begin installing plugins” and the process will begin.

WordPress Configuration

Adjust WordPress settings as follows:
1. Set Site Title in Settings > General.
2. Set Blog pages show at most in Settings > Reading.
3. Select Front Page and Posts Page in Settings > Reading.

Customization

You should configure customizer options in Customize on admin sidebar. Or you can choose customizer option from Appearance Menu in the dashboard.

B. Theme Options

The next option is “Theme Options” which has following sub-options.

  1. General Options

This option lets you enable or disable search from the top menu, sticky menu, go to the top section, social icons on top and social icons on the bottom in your site. It also lets you reset all default settings.

This option lets you choose blog layout (grid, list or single column), show or hide Meta in blog page, design layout (full width, boxed or small boxed)

  1. Display FrontPage Features

This option lets you choose three pages which you want to make featured on your site. You can add a title of this section and also enable or disable this section in the homepage.

You can add social media links on your site from this section.

Add CSS in this section to tweak the appearance of the site.

C. Slider Options

Slider options let you configure slider setting in your site for Front Page. There are further two options slider settings and display page slider.

One can enable or disable slider in homepage. If the slider is disabled, the header image is displayed instead of a slider. You can also add button text and link to the slider.

Display page slider lets you choose four pages whose featured images will be displayed as a slider.

D. Contact Us Page Option

This option lets you add contact information for you or your company on the site.

E. Color Options

Color options allow you to choose the color style, background color, nav, and links color, buttons reset/submit color and WooCommerce.

Menus

Menu

            Whitish Lite has two menus “main menu” and “footer menu”. The former is shown in the top below the logo/site title and the latter is shown on the bottom of the site. To create a menu, navigate Appearance > Menu and click on “create menu”. Add pages, categories, posts etc. to the menu and assign the menu to “main menu” or “footer menu” and click “save menu”.
